Biggest challenge of any industry is to maintain environmental balance. Especially in case of cement maintaining the green balance is very important. Our Environmental initiative is to make sure that there is better, greener future for all.
On 25th August 2018, a plantation activity named "Green Belt Development with Native Species" was carried out by M/S Purbanchal Cement Ltd. at the Factory premises under the guidance of Dr. Shantanu Dutta, Scientist (D) of Central Pollution Control, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Govt. of India North Eastern Regional Office, Shillong, Meghalaya.
It is influenced by 'Akira Miyawaki Model' of creation for 'Environmental Protection Forest'. Mr. Akira Miyawaki (born on 29th January, 1928) is a Japanese botanist and expert in plant ecology, specializing in seeds and the study of Natural Forests.
In this plantation program 5,000 numbers of native saplings with 52 different species were planted in and around the plant area to reach the maximum area under 'Green Belt Development'. More than 200 employees participated in the program to take pledge for sustenance of these plants so that our motto becomes productive.
The Company has carried out an all great initiatives towards a greener environment through plantation for minimizing air and other pollutions. Amongst them "Plogging and Beat Plastic Pollution" is one of the best and very successful initiative carried out by Purbanchal Cement Ltd. on the occasion of the World Environment Day, 2018. Plogging is a combination of jogging with picking up litter. It started as an organized activity in Sweden around 2016 and spread to other countries in 2018. On World Environment Day various other initiatives like Mass Cleanliness Program including plantation, distribution of free saplings among the nearby villages and schools students etc. are also done every year.
Plantation by noted personalities from the village, Spot Quiz Competition amongst students from Class I to V, Spot pictorial competition, distribution of prizes and confectionaries amongst school students of Morogdula Village, nearby plant area followed by spot quiz and pictorial competition for the students with distribution of prizes, gifts etc.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan is celebrated on 15th of September every year as a step towards a cleaner environment by removing dirt, filth or unwanted substances from the villages, road sides and plant areas.
